At Veterans Place, we are always looking for motivated Volunteers who want to help us pursue our mission of serving homeless Veterans.  We offer several types of volunteer opportunities:

  • Ongoing:  As part of our upcoming Day Program, we will be looking for volunteers to support several needed positions, including:
    • Food Prep
    • Greeter
    • Peer Mentorship

  • Skilled Opportunities:
    • IT: As a small organization, we encounter many IT problems but cannot support the expense of a paid IT staff member.  We are currently looking for individuals to help on issues in networking and hardware configuration.
    • Carpentry: We have accumulated a number of pictures and prints over the years, including some classic WWII recruiting and propaganda posters.  We are currently looking for a volunteer with skills in carpentry and the appropriate tools to make picture frames for them.  Once finished, the images will be used to decorate the walls in our Service Center.

To become a Veterans Place volunteer, you must be at least 18.  We welcome both men and women from all backgrounds and with all different skills.  Pittsburgh is full of homeless men and women who once answered our nation's call.  If you would like to help us return the favor, we would love to have you join us!  Interested volunteers can contact us directly by phone at 412.363.0500, by email at volunteer@veteransplace.org, or through our partnership with Pittsburgh Cares.  To volunteer through Pittsburgh Cares, click the link below.  Thank you very much for your interest!
